Art & Reproduction (2018)

For Object Lessons Space’s first ever physical activation, we joined Urban Ventures 11 Street Party with a portable exhibition titled Art & Reproduction. Taking the form of a cork board, the portable exhibition featured a couple of objects that examined how artworks and images have been reproduced, manipulated, cropped and edited.

Through this portable exhibition, we wanted to pose the following questions to our viewers:

  1. We’re free to access artworks through their reproductions, but are our mediated experiences "authentic"?

  2. What makes an experience with an artwork authentic anyway?

  3. Can a reproduced artwork replace the original in our digital age?

The exhibition was accompanied by a short brochure, which can be downloaded below.

Portable Exhibitions

Portable Exhibitions are original initiatives by Object Lessons Space. These exhibitions take over small, unconventional spaces and deliver small, yet pithy explorations into a single theme or issue.
